CWA Turns 60: 1967-2027
Support CWA's $60 for 60 campaign this season as we raise money to conserve and improve more habitat and hunting land in Connecticut and receive special Limited Edition 60th Anniversary CWA Logo Merchandise. Contribute between 7/1/2026 and 6/30/2027 to receive these gifts.
Our Mission:
To work in Connecticut to conserve wetlands for the benefit of waterfowl and other wildlife species and to preserve the traditions associated with waterfowl hunting.
Our Practices
CWA is actively involved in many efforts to accomplish our mission:
- Work closely with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and other natural resource agencies and conservation groups on wetland conservation projects. We provide funding and volunteers.
- All funds generated remain in Connecticut and are invested in waterfowl and wetland conservation and enhancement projects. Not one dime of any funds raised pays for the salary, effort, or time of anyone: CWA is 100% volunteer run for Connecticut waterfowl and waterfowlers.
- Support the education of the importance of hunting's role in conservation through new hunter educational seminars and outreach to various government officials and natural resource agencies. Funds the Thomas C. Marshall Scholarship Program, which is awarded to Connecticut-based students who demonstrate a passion for conservation.
- Administering the Connecticut Junior Duck Stamp artwork competition and choosing the artist and artwork that will become next year's Connecticut State Duck Stamp and represent Connecticut on the national competition stage.
- Advocate for waterfowl hunters and the game we seek to protect with various government officials and natural resource agencies by providing input on regulations and legislation impact wetlands, waterfowl, and waterfowl hunting. CWA represents waterfowl hunting interests on the Connecticut Conservation Advisory Council of the DEEP.
- Build and maintain wood duck nest boxes and collects data on use, historically working with the DEEP's Wildlife Division and looking to expand to private landowners, land trusts, and utility-owned marsh lands.
Yearly Memberships in the Connecticut Waterfowl Association (CWA) begin at just $25 and help to fund many of our conservation and outreach programs. The CWA is the only current active waterfowl and wetland restoration association where ALL funds raised through our membership and fundraising events go toward initiatives that benefit the State of CT wetlands and Atlantic flyway waterfowl.
