CWA is proud to announce the return of the Tom Marshall Scholarship!
Environmentalist. Conservationist. Naturalist. Activist. Waterfowler. Tom Marshall was all of these, plus a founding member of Connecticut Waterfowl Association. Tom’s passion for hunting and conservation fueled his life. He was active on a national level and very effective in his advocacy here in Connecticut. In the 1950’s, the Federal Government’s plans for Interstate 95 were revealed to go through the middle of what is now Charles Wheeler Wildlife Management Area. It was due to the efforts of Tom and other CWA founders in educating federal and state officials on the importance of wetlands that I-95’s path was revised and Charles Wheeler WMA was preserved and protected for us to enjoy today. We know Tom’s passion is still alive today in the hearts of many young conservationists. CWA is therefore delighted to award $1000.00 to assist in furthering the education of a qualified student who is passionate about conservation. This scholarship is open to both traditional college courses of study as well as students entering into a career in the skilled trades.
